On October 21, Feldman Ecopark hosted an annual conference, where two young naturalists of Bat Rehabilitation Center (Nataly Shanyuk and Illia Necrutov) presented the results of their researches.
Nataly’s work was devoted to the study of the bats’ fauna in the Dergachy Forest. This forest is interesting because of last year finding of the rarest bat species in Europe – Nyctalus lasiopterus. This year, the study of the bats in this forest was conducted in July and August. The most interesting thing is that the BRC team captured the Nyctalus lasiopterus again.
Illia presented results of the monitoring of the bats in the mines using phototraps. Previously, bats have not been explored in this way in Ukraine. Phototraps allow to study the activity of different bat species in their surroundings without human influence.
