It is the first such record in Ukraine. 8g grey long-eared bat (Plecotus austriacus) was rescued by householders and our volunteer in Uzhhorod city, Ukraine. Bat was given a warm bubble bath, water, mealworms and released to the wild in few days.
If he had been left there then he would have died a slow death from dehydration, starvation or exhaustion. Many different species are caught on fly paper and glue traps – from bats to swallows, pigeons and starlings.
Please, think twice before using glue traps!
