5 October 2013 we took part in project “Scientific Fun – scientific picnics in Ukraine” – international project (project coordinator is scientific center “Kopernic” , Poland). One of the Ukrainian picnics took place at Karazin Kharkov National University. The aim of the project was popularization of scientific developments, ideas and technologies and attraction to conducting the experiments anybody who believe in science, respect and interest in up to date scientific achievements. Our group took part in “Scientific Fun” and we told people about bats as scientific object and why they are interesting. We demonstrated modern principles of study and monitoring of bats by acoustic signals, told about echolocation principle and show live bat. People had an opportunity to hear bat echolocation sounds in headphones and see sonograms on the notebook. We distributed our bat-friendly educational materials among participants. During 5 hours almost 7 000 people visited Karazin Kharkov National University and people with enthusiasm listened about bats.
